Refund Policy

Effective Date: 01 March 2025

This Refund Policy sets out the terms under which refunds may be issued by The Legal Database in relation to subscription services and eBook purchases. By purchasing any product or service from The Legal Database, you acknowledge and agree to the terms of this Policy.

1. Subscription Services

  1. 1.1. All fees paid in respect of subscription services, whether monthly, annual, or under an organizational plan, are non-refundable.
  2. 1.2. Cancellation of a subscription shall not entitle the user to a refund of any portion of fees already paid. Cancellation shall only prevent future renewals and associated charges.
  3. 1.3. Prospective users are encouraged to utilise any free trial period available before committing to a paid subscription.

2. eBook Purchases

  1. 2.1. All eBook purchases are final. Refunds shall not be issued once the eBook has been delivered.
  2. 2.2. Exceptions to Clause 2.1 may be considered only in the following circumstances:
    1. a. the eBook delivered is materially different from that purchased;
    2. b. the eBook file is defective or fails to open, and our technical support team is unable to resolve the issue; or
    3. c. the same eBook has been inadvertently purchased multiple times.
  3. 2.3. Any request for a refund under Clause 2.2 must be submitted within seven (7) days of purchase and must include appropriate supporting documentation (e.g., screenshots, error messages, or payment confirmations).

3. Subscription Cancellations

  1. 3.1. Subscriptions may be cancelled at any time through the user's account settings.
  2. 3.2. Upon cancellation, the user shall continue to have access to the platform until the end of the current billing period. No pro-rated refunds shall be issued for any unused portion of the subscription period.

4. Automatic Renewals

  1. 4.1. Subscription plans automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least five (5) days prior to the next scheduled billing date.
  2. 4.2. Failure to cancel within this timeframe shall result in renewal and associated charges, for which no refund shall be issued.

5. Exceptional Refunds

The Legal Database may, at its sole discretion, issue a refund in the following exceptional circumstances:

  1. 5.1. confirmed fraudulent transactions, provided the user notifies us within forty-eight (48) hours of the charge; or
  2. 5.2. prolonged technical issues arising from our platform which materially prevent access and which remain unresolved within a reasonable period.

6. Refund Requests

  1. 6.1. To request a refund, the user shall:
    1. a. log in to their Legal Database account;
    2. b. navigate to the Subscription section in the account settings;
    3. c. click the "Request Refund" button and complete the form provided; and
    4. d. submit the request for review.
  2. 6.2. Approved refunds shall be processed to the original payment method within ten (10) to fifteen (15) business days.

7. Amendments to this Policy

The Legal Database reserves the right to amend this Refund Policy at any time. Users shall be notified of material changes via email or through a notice on the platform.
